Choose this adventure for our plan →
Your room is a pretend post office. Letters can be drawings or simply colours you point to; no reading is required.
Our two play stops
- 10 min
Color hunt
Choose one colour and find two safe objects that share it. Do not move fragile things. Let the child explain why each object belongs to that colour family.
Color hunt →Gather before playing
- nothing extra
The grown-up’s role
Let your child lead the search. Ask about light and dark shades instead of giving answers.
- 8 min
Memory tray
Place three large familiar objects on a tray. Look together, then have the child look away while you remove one. Ask what changed. Swap roles, or keep everything visible and compare two arrangements.
Memory tray →Gather before playing
- a tray or plate
- three large familiar objects
The grown-up’s role
Let your child choose the objects. Keep it playful and skip scores or comparisons.

Read or listen · optional
Fenn and the Red Kite
Read about Fenn’s red kite. Look for the red shape in the pictures and ask how the friends might notice it from different places.
Fenn and the Red Kite →A gentle finish
Pretend to deliver the objects back to their homes. Name one detail you noticed that you had not seen before.
One question to share
Which helped you remember: the colour, the shape or where the thing was?
Change the pace
Use two objects and one clearly different colour. For a new challenge, keep the objects but change their positions rather than removing one.
